Spokane native Austin Carruthers is a talented multi-instrumentalist born into a musical family. Son of local saxophonist Don Carruthers, nephew to one of Seattle's finest vocalists Charlotte Carruthers, and grandson of legendary jazz pianist Arnie Carruthers. Austin's love of performing began in 5th grade at East Farms Elementary playing trumpet in his school band. Once he picked up a guitar, he discovered his true passion: singing and songwriting.
Austin began a solo career when he was lucky enough to be invited to perform at Pig Out in the Park in 2022. This led to his first weekly residency at the Checkerboard Pub in Spokane. He has been featured at many local venues and has performed with many groups across Spokane before creating his own band, Bay 7. In the fall of 2024, Austin was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to open for The Steve Miller Band for a sold out show at Northern Quest Resort & Casino.
Austin has written music for his own solo project, as well as for his band Bay 7. His catalog of solo originals includes: Breathe, Can't Stay, Price of Goodbye, and Better Days. He has also composed various songs for Bay 7 with his guitar player Dreau Thrams, including: Straight Jacket, Only Human, and Sweet Addiction.
Austin draws his musical inspiration from many sources, such as Jack Johnson, Allen Stone, John Mayer, Chris Stapleton, Eddie Vedder, and Chris Cornell. Everyone enjoys the diversity of his music selections. Whether it be his powerful vocals on hard rock tunes, 70s classics, show tunes, or sultry country music, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
